In a 49-25 loss to previously winless Hanover College, not all was bleak inside Macholz Stadium. Freshman Wide Receiver Jarret Dickey put on quite a show, breaking the AU record for most receiving yards in a single game. Dickey hauled in seven passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a staggering 41.6 yards per reception. Dickey’s first touchdown covered 88-yards and his second went for 86-yards.
The previous record was held by Brad Lamb, a former Raven who went on to play for the Buffalo Bills. Lamb had 272 receiving yards in a 1990 game against Defiance.
Until he was told after the game, Dickey was unaware that he had broken a school record. “I didn’t do anything special,” said Dickey. “I just followed the game plan and made the big play when my number was called. That could have been any one of our talented receivers. I guess today was just my day.”
Dickey now has 14 receptions for 367 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season. The Ravens are back in action Saturday as they travel to Terre Haute to take on Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Rose-Hulman was victorious in last year’s meeting, spoiling AU’s homecoming to the tune of an 81-13 victory.
