The men’s and women’s cross country teams posted strong showings at the Run With the Lions event in Shelbyville, Indiana. Both teams won the event, a serious improvement over their respective ninth and 10th place finishes in their previous event, the IWU Twilight Classic.
Jona Odell led the men to victory, completing his 6k in 20:49, good for a second overall finish. Caleb Bruner and Ian Leatherman also recorded top-10 finishes, placing seventh and ninth. The men posted 27 points, 21 more than runner-up Franklin College.
Anderson’s women were even more dominant, taking a clean sweep of the first four positions of their 4k race. Ashley King placed first, recording a time of 16:46. Marissa Jamison, Sarah Repp and Michaela McCurdy rounded out the top-four. Their time was good for 23 points, a full 22 points better than second-placew Franklin.
After posting her superb time, King was named HCAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
