Consensus Top-15 Division III soccer team Ohio Northern likely entered Saturday’s game against Anderson expecting a relatively easy victory. After all, the young Ravens team is coming off of a three-win season.
Rather than allow the mystique of a nationally ranked program affect their psyche, the Ravens came out ready to compete against Ohio Northern, holding the Polar Bears scoreless for the first half. Ohio Northern was able to break through the Ravens defense late, scoring two second half goals to defeat the Ravens 2-1. Sophomore Jacob Pokorski scored the Ravens lone goal, his team-high fifth of the season.
“I was very happy with the way we competed. It was great to see us compete with a team that plays at such a high level,” said freshman forward Race Williams. “Our effort makes me look forward to what we can accomplish the rest of the season.” Williams added that he believes one of those accomplishments could be winning a conference championship.
The Ravens host Kentucky Christian tonight at 4:30 before opening conference play Saturday as they travel to Mount St. Joseph University.
