Some thoughts at the end of the semester

November 16, 2016 by Beth Stark

As someone who is graduating this December, each passing day has brought on more and more anxiety about what I’m going to do when I’m faced with the “real world.” So, in order to distract myself from that reality, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the things that I’m going to miss after graduation.

Of course, I’m definitely going to miss all of the amazing professors I’ve had the chance to interact with over the last three and a half years. I’ve gone through some rough times and they’ve all been beyond understanding. Every time I get an email around finals time from a professor wishing us luck and offering support, I’m so unbelievably grateful that I chose AU. There is a lot about life at AU that I’m going to miss that I don’t have the room or the time to list off here, but I think the thing that I’m going to miss the most is the Andersonian staff.

When I joined the editorial staff two years ago, I was nervous and scared and I didn’t really know anyone else. But as each production night went by, I grew closer and closer to those amazing people. As the staff has changed and my role on staff has evolved, I’ve gotten to take change and create a paper that I am so unbelievably proud of.

But on top of just getting the chance to find a place where I feel like I belong, I’m so grateful for the amazing people on the editorial staff: Megan, Nikki, Faith and Ethan. I can’t imagine my life without getting to spend hours upon hours in the Andersonian office, eating pizza, making jokes, goofing around and just getting to hang out and talk. I’m really going to miss it.

So, to wrap this all up, I just want to say thank you to everyone at AU who has been a part of my college career and who has shaped me into the person I am today.

Beth is a senior English major from Canton, Michigan.
