Donald Trump is not doing the work of God

February 8, 2017 by Nikki Edrington

I wasn’t going to write it—people are tired of hearing about this. I’m tired of it, too. But that’s precisely why I must say it.

Donald Trump is not doing the work of God.

No, far from it.

He is doing his very best to turn America into another pawn in his rat race. Our enemies and allies alike are laughing. Trump has single-handedly given our enemies all the ammunition against us that they could ever need.

I’ll say it again for the people in the back: Donald Trump is not doing the work of God.

He is further marginalizing the marginalized. He is further oppressing the oppressed.

He is telling Americans that we are the best by stripping us of the only things that have ever made us great.

He is splitting us up, but only some are willing to divide. I am not one of them. I stand with refugees. I march with women. I believe in the freedom to choose. I believe in free press and the freedom of information.

I am afforded these rights because I am an American, but if Trump has his way, I’ll only be afforded the rights that line up with him. You may call me crazy or say that I’m just being whiny and unwilling to accept his place as president.

But tell me, have you not seen the things he has already done? Have you not watched him suffocate any information that goes against him? How does this not scare you, oh “free people”?

He is not for this nation. No, he is for himself. His conflict of interest seems only to grow by the day. He is a coward.

A man of God is not leading us. He is no disciple of Christ. Donald Trump is a tool against this nation and against the will of God.

He is not feeding the hungry, and he is not giving drink to those who thirst. He is not inviting in the stranger, nor clothing the naked. He is not sitting with the sick or visiting those who are imprisoned. No, far from it.

He is snatching food from the hands of children. He is poisoning the water. He is shutting our doors and taking shirts off of people’s backs. He is commanding from his Oval Office a refusal to extend a hand of grace.

He is not doing the work of God. No President can do it all, but he is doing none of it.

Dear supporters, you have been fooled. This man is not on your side. Donald Trump is not doing the work of God.

Perhaps in 10 years, I will look back on this and say I overreacted. But I would much prefer that over looking back and saying, “I was silent when my brothers and sisters were weeping, and now look at what we have become.”

Now is not the time to wait and see what Trump does. Now is the time to call it out and to fiercely stand against the things that divide us.

Donald Trump is not doing the work of God.

Now, as always, it’s up to us.

Nikki is a junior Christian ministries major from Mitchell, Indiana.
