All-Academic Ravens

March 28, 2018 by Alec Brown

Anderson’s student-athletes did a fantastic job of backing up the student aspect of their titles in the winter sports season. Tom Bohlsen Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic honors are awarded to winter varsity athletes who earn a cumulative 3.5 GPA.

22 Ravens received the honors. Only Rose-Hulman had more HCAC student-athletes earn the honors. Four men’s basketball players, one male swimmer, two women’s basketball players, two female swimmers, five men’s track & field athletes and eight women’s track & field athletes earned recognition.

The 22 recipients were: Brady Ashton, J.D. Bembry, Cole Hartman, Mike Peters, Connor Todd, Carly Hackler, Audrey May, Milly Hensley, Michaela Richardson, Sebastian Baxter, Calen Bruner, Kaid Hutchinson, Ian Leatherman, Jacob White, Ryley Burkhart, Rachel Harrison, Chloe Hassett, Ashley King, Courtney King, Vickie Nguyen, Bailey Wallace and Tess Wise.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized for the hard work that we have put in inside the classroom,” said Ashton. “We are more than just athletes and hit the books hard.

“AU has given me a lot of great opportunities as a basketball player, but has also given me just as many academically. We have great professors here that give us the tools to succeed and work really hard to push us in the right direction.”

Ashto said he is looking forward to see how his time at AU will prepare him for his future after college.

“I know when I get my degree I will be more than prepared to work in the education field,” he said.
