Senior spotlight: Ruth Knies

January 24, 2021 by Elisha Deluhery

Ruth Knies is a senior tennis player at AU.

“My mom played at the University of Evansville when she was in college, so I grew up playing [tennis] with her,” said Knies.

While playing tennis, Knies has a few objectives.

“My goals in my sport are to improve every time I step out on the court and to be the best teammate I can be,” said Knies. “I want to be known for working hard and having a good attitude.”

When asked to describe her teammates, Knies said, “ If I could use one word to describe my teammates, it would be ‘family.’ We are all so close and have each other’s backs no matter what.”

“Outside of sports, I work at the campus store and I like to hang out with friends and family, listen to music and work out,” said Knies.

Knies is studying elementary education and hopes to teach kindergarten through second grade in the future. Her favorite TV show is “New Girl” because, “it’s hilarious and always puts me in a better mood.”
