Both swim teams competed last weekend at the second annual swimming and diving conference championships. The women’s team placed third out of six teams, and the men placed fourth. AU does not currently have a diving team, so they were unable to capture as many total team points as other conference schools. The women tallied 320 points, just 19 points behind Rose-Hulman. The ladies had the highest score for a team not receiving diving points. The men posted a score of 173.5, … [Read more...]
Basketball team rides hot streak into the tournament
After an up-and-down season, the men’s basketball team was able to finish strong by winning four games in a row out of five. The Ravens lost on the road to Defiance, the last-ranked team in the conference, before returning home to defeat top-ranked Hanover in a major upset. That sparked a streak where the men took down three teams who finished above them in the HCAC standings. On Saturday, they lost 96-89 in a close contest to third-ranked Transylvania, wrapping up their regular … [Read more...]

“Hits4Hope” challenge begins for AU’s baseball team
AU’s baseball team is gearing up for another season, but their focus this offseason has been on something larger. The team has been partnered with Secret Families of Madison County, a nonprofit providing Christmas presents for less fortunate families around the county, for several years now. Head coach Matt Bair wanted to take things further this season. “A couple of years ago when I took the job at AU, I was introduced to this ministry here in town,” said Bair. “They provided us an … [Read more...]

Track and field set to begin a grueling five-month stretch
The indoor track and field season will soon resume as the runners continue to prepare for the long season ahead. The Ravens competed in the UIndy Season Opener back in December, but have had more than a month off between events. They will compete in the indoor season and have a short break before kicking off their outdoor campaign. In the preseason coaches poll, the men’s team was selected to finish fifth, while the women were picked to finish sixth in the conference. Despite both teams being … [Read more...]
AU’s winter teams kept rolling over Christmas break
While the students were away, the Ravens came to play. Over the holiday break, several AU sports teams continued to perform well, while others experienced a much needed turn around. The women’s basketball team continued their comeback season posting a 3-3 record over break that was highlighted by a three game winning streak to start out the new year. Due to their strong performance, the Lady Ravens currently sit at 8-9 on the season with a 4-6 conference record—good enough for fifth in the … [Read more...]
Random room searches may continue into spring semester
Toward the end of the fall semester, AU instituted random room searches throughout the residence halls. The searches began following frequent suspicion of illegal substances being kept in dorm rooms. “There were only two rounds of random room searches conducted last semester,” said Maggie Platt, director of residence life and student conduct for AU. “But I think rumors have made students believe there were many more than that.” Much to the dismay of students, there was no warning that the … [Read more...]
