Newsboys to visit Reardon on tour in February

January 26, 2017 by Faith Middleton

The Newsboys will bring their 2017 Love Riot tour to Reardon Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The Christian band has previously visited AU, along with Hawk Nelson, in the fall of 2015.

This time around, Newsboys is set to return with a new performance aspect in tow—a theatrical production titled “God’s Not Dead LIVE! Rivals.”

For the theatrical performance, the Newsboys “wanted to try something brand new, something different,” said lead singer Michael Tait. “We are very excited about sharing this new theatrical experience with our fans.”

The band has been established for 30 years, but its popularity surged following the release of their song, “God’s Not Dead” and the released film with the same title.

In April of 2016, the sequel to the film was released, starring Melissa Joan Heart, and the Newsboys made a cameo as well.

The band has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, most recently in 2003 for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. They were also nominated for a Dove Award as recently as 2016 for Worship Song of the Year.

Students can purchase tickets at a discounted rate, $18, from the Reardon Auditorium box office, with AU ID. Otherwise, tickets may be purchased for a regular price of $25. In addition to the regular tickets, VIP experiences are for sale, with prices ranging from $45-$100.

The Reardon box office is open Monday-Friday, from 12-5 p.m.
