Free dental service for Anderson community

September 11, 2019 by Amalia Arms

On Saturday, Sept. 21, Anderson Family Dental will be hosting Free Dentistry Day for members of the Anderson community. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be free cleanings and extractions on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Dr. Josh Ratcliff and team at Anderson Family Dental, along with the assistance of Dr. Eva-Marie Powers of Brookschool Dental Care, will be improving the oral health of the community as part of Free Dentistry Day, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance,” read an Anderson Family Dental press release.

According to the press release, “approximately 108 million Americans are living without dental insurance.”

“We understand that many people in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time,” said Ratcliff. “Some don’t understand the importance of dental health, but more often than not, they don’t have the financial means. This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with those less fortunate and give back to the community.”

Ratcliff is not only excited for the opportunity to have a positive impact on the community; he is excited for how the experience will impact and change his life.

“It’s very gratifying to see the impact that events like Free Dentistry Day can have on the life of a person,” he said. “At the same time we’re changing their life, they’re changing ours.”

Powers hopes to educate the community on the importance of dental care and encourage them to prioritize their dental hygiene.

“Dental health is a vital part of a person’s overall health,” she said. “Through this event, we hope to educate patients on the importance of dental health and encourage them to adopt an ongoing oral care regimen.”

Free Dentistry Day will be held at 777 Broadway Suite B in Anderson, Indiana.
