Men’s basketball comments on being HCAC Tournament champions

February 25, 2024 by Kaleb Greve

The Anderson University men’s basketball team has earned the title of back-to-back HCAC tournament champions. With a decisive win against Hanover College, the Ravens have made history. The atmosphere among the crowd was both tense and radiating with anticipation,  the mood being set by the ever reactive and rambunctious student section. However, the crowd wasn’t the only group leaving their all out there.

Tate Ivanyo, a junior at AU and first team all conference player, said, “It was an amazing game.” A sentiment shared with the rest of the team as well.

Freshman Robert (Rob) Davidson said, “I think we played great… We stuck together and we played as a team and that’s just been the product all through the season.”

“I think the game went really well… And then the crowd Conspiracy. They did their thing, man… It was a good thing,” Kenney Troutman added. This is a team that truly appreciates not only their fellow teammates but the fans as well.

Assistant Coach Dijon Knight also chimed in, “We’ve really got a good group of unselfish guys. I know they love each other and that really shows out on the court, the chemistry that we have.”

Head Coach Carter Collins had this to say, “”I think they did well… Offensively we were very strong throughout the game… Defensively I thought we started a little slow, but then battled through that. I thought we ended the game with a sound defense.”

Being a once in a lifetime opportunity for both the players and the crowd at this game, they definitely showed up and rose to the occasion.

Keep an eye out for your Ravens in the NCAA tournament next weekend as they move onto their next big challenge.
