Scott Moats will begin serving as the chief operating officer from March 1 before entering his new role of Anderson University president. Inspired by AU’s commitment to Christ-centered education, he will be taking on the mantle after President John Pistole retires on May 31 according to AU’s press release.
“As I prepare to retire, I am confident that Anderson University is in capable hands and will continue to thrive under his guidance,” Pistole said in AU’s press release. With a Ph. D in education policy and administration from the University of Minnesota, Moats has accumulated over three decades of roles, experiences and other degrees in higher education.
His work has focused on the relationship between the Christian faith and learning and how it is incorporated into educational institutions in the areas such as institutional leadership, Christian education, and student success.
Moats has a wife, Sheryl, and their two children Scotti and Shelby. His daughter, Scotti Moats, is currently the assistant provost for General Education and Transition at Southwest Baptist University.
The details about the transition and Moats’ inauguration will be announced in the coming months. We welcome Scott Moats with open arms as we look forward to the meaningful season he will bring to AU.
