Dance majors remain optimistic for coming year

September 13, 2020 by Thomas Piotrowski

Last school year ended in disappointment for many of the dance majors on campus. The cancellation of Spring into Dance, a professor-choreographed show put on by the dance department, stopped the senior dance majors from having their last chance to showcase their talents on the Reardon stage.   For dance majors who did not graduate last year, the optimism of another school year remained. Meredith Haskell, a senior dance major, shared her enthusiasm for returning to campus after … [Read more...]

Basketball star helps save lives

August 30, 2020 by Jordan Yaney

AU senior Maurice Knight has always been known on campus as a hero on the court, but he recently became much more than that. On Aug. 4, Knight and his friend Jake Richwine were the first on the scene of a serious two-car accident in Elwood. On their way home from doing yard work, Knight and Richwine noticed two cars in a field just off of County Roads 900 North and 750 West. “We saw two cars in a field that looked like they had wrecked,” Knight said. “I told Jake to pull over so we could … [Read more...]

COVID-19 forces students to isolate themselves

April 29, 2020 by Claire Mountcastle

Due to COVID-19, most students at AU have been forced out of their on-campus residences without many of their belongings or, in some cases, a safe place to go. In addition to this transition, students have also had to adjust to online learning.  For junior Emily Frost, the biggest challenge so far has been finding motivation.  “It is really hard to want to get work done during the day,” Frost said. “It feels overwhelming, and as an extrovert, it is really hard to stay energized … [Read more...]

A recipe for spiritual growth

April 6, 2020 by Jacey Crawford

Editor's note: This article was in the works before the campus was closed for the semester due to COVID-19 concerns. Naturally, the Bible studies have been suspended. “If you have the choice between being right and being kind, be kind,” said Kathy Harp as she looked toward the ceiling, carefully crafting a one-sentence summary of what she has learned over the course of her life. Every Tuesday evening, Harp does just that—she chooses to be kind. For the past five years, Harp has opened … [Read more...]
