Excitement permeated throughout O.C. Lewis Gymnasium for Saturday’s HCAC doubleheader between the Ravens and the visiting Hanover College Panthers. The women’s team entered Saturday still searching for their first win, but had been inching closer to the win column their last few appearances. The men’s team rolled into Saturday winners of five straight contests, three of which came in conference play. Even after both games were pushed back to the evening due to inclement weather, the AU faithful … [Read more...]

Cooley dominant in long jump
The Ravens’ indoor track and field teams traveled to Indianapolis on Saturday to take on competition from Division II, Division III and NAIA foes at the UIndy Season Opener. The stiff competition provided a great measuring block for AU in the non-team scored event. Returning D-III All-American Garrett Cooley dominated in the long jump, leaping 7.26 meters. He was the only competitor in the field to jump over 7.0 meters. This was also Cooley’s best jump, surpassing his previous record of 7.18 … [Read more...]
Swim team records 22 season-bests
The AU swim teams had arguably their best showing in school history at this weekend’s Transylvania Invitational. The women’s team placed seventh with 128 points, while the men placed sixth with 215 points. The 343 total points landed the Ravens in seventh in combined scores. Rose-Hulman won the Invitational with 1696 combined points. “This team continues to impress me with its ability to repeatedly outdo itself,” said coach Conner Snare. “This weekend is another prime example of … [Read more...]
Men’s basketball team races out of the gates to 4-1 start
Sitting 4-1 heading into tonight’s conference battle against Franklin, the men’s basketball team is off to a hot start. AU opened the season with two dominant performances at home against Adrian and Kalamazoo. Trevor Lucas led the Ravens to a 104-79 victory over Adrian in the opener, pouring in 37 points on 14-16 shooting, including 8-9 from deep. After banking in his fifth three of the first half, a “heat check” from well behind the three-point line, Lucas did his best Michael Jordan … [Read more...]
Three-on-three league a smashing success
When handball drew only four teams during the second season of IMs, the AU Intramural program looked to spice things up by introducing a new sport. With the tremendous amount of publicity that surrounded Ice Cube’s BIG3 league and the history affiliated with basketball in the state of Indiana, it only made sense that three-on-three basketball would be introduced. Any and all expectations have been shattered. 29 teams signed up to play, far more than the program was expecting. When combined … [Read more...]

Many were emotional upon hearing of the decision. “I didn’t see this coming,” said Alphonso Blackwell. “It’s sad because we all had a … [Read more...]
BROWN’S BREAKDOWN: Huge year in store for Ravens
Every once in a while, I’ll hear a student mutter something like, “Yeah, AU is awesome, but I just wish we had the athletic events that big schools do,” or “there’s just not much to go to on the weekends.” Sure, AU may not have a Kyle Field that seats 102,733 people for an SEC football game. What Anderson does offer is historic O.C. Lewis Gymnasium, a 1,738 seat arena that was renovated this offseason. And if you’re looking for something to do around campus this winter, look no further than … [Read more...]
Women’s soccer hunts conference championship
For the first time since the 2003 season, the Anderson women’s soccer team will be competing in post season play. A 5-2-2 conference record was good enough to take home fourth place in the HCAC, earning the team the final spot in the conference tournament. “When you look back and see all this team has accomplished this season, it’s been unbelievable,” said AU coach Jennifer Myhre. “Their goal set in January was to be in the top four and they worked tirelessly and for each other since then … [Read more...]
