The recently opened Raven’s Diner has become the new hotspot at Anderson University. The American-style diner replaced the beloved Chick-fil-A, but students are getting a new restaurant with unique options.
The Raven’s Diner menu consists of sandwiches, salads, starters, and all-day breakfast; some items are not available yet but are coming soon. On the menu, there are orange stars that indicate the options for a meal exchange, that includes the Smashburger, which according to junior student Carson Brookbank, “is the best item on the menu,” which also has totchos, which are tater tot nachos, and even an Indiana favorite, a tenderloin.
According to the Dean of Student Life, Trent Palmer, the operation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. This means that students can visit during later hours weekly.
The biggest question of the Raven Diner has to be why it replaced Chick-fil-A, which was a hit at AU and loved by many students. Palmer mentioned the new Chick-fil-A opening on Scatterfield Road, just minutes from campus.
“Chick-fil-A’s hours were limited in the Raven’s Haven and by introducing the Raven’s Diner, students, faculty, and staff will have more time available to frequent this campus eatery,” Palmer said.
Sophomore Addy Gick said, “Chick-fil-A was better,” which is a common student response because of the great popularity of Chick-fil-A.
“However, the Raven’s Diner is a great addition to the AU campus,” Palmer said. “The diner compares to a Freddy’s,” Palmer said, which is a popular American burger joint.
No matter how students may feel, more future menu items are coming soon, so it will be an exciting year for the new Raven’s Diner.
