Last Friday, Anderson University’s Campus Activity Board (CAB) put on Bonfire Bash, a packed night full of activities, games, competitions, and more. CAB provided students with activities such as a cornhole tournament, marshmallow and hotdog roasting, a free coffee cart, yard games, pumpkin painting, a haystack to dig for prizes, and a baking competition. Judging the competition was AU President Scott Moats, AU First Lady Sheryl Moats, Dean of Spiritual And Intercultural Life Brian Martin, and Smith Hall Resident Director Adrian Matzke.
On the competition front, the primary selling point of the night for many attendees, out of over 16 teams, the cornhole tournament was won by a team composed of student Eli Delgado and student body Vice President Dylan Stegemoller. In terms of the bake-off, competitors brought an assortment of baked goods such as cookies, pies, rice crispies, muffins, and cakes.
The winner, as selected by our judges, was a cheesecake baked by freshman Kaylana McKnight. When asked for her advice to other aspiring bakers in situations like hers, she said, “Don’t make your desserts last minute, but if you do, make sure to make it special.”
Following the excellent turnout of this event, CAB has several other events planned throughout the semester for students to keep an eye out for, such as the highly anticipated OkSoberfest on October 2.
