The English department rang in the new year with a bit of rainy weather inside its Decker Hall home. Faculty have dubbed it the “Great English Department Flood of 2018” on Twitter. New ‘situation room’ to simulate crisis situations
Students will gain real-world security experience through mock scenarios While students are away from campus on Christmas break, a “Situation Room” will be installed in the History and Political Science Department. AU’s new addition will be modeled after the Situation Room located in the White House. Adult studies LEAD program ending, 23 students undergoing teach-out process
Last school year, AU administration decided to discontinue the LEAD program, the Integrative Leadership major offered specifically for nontraditional adult students. The students currently involved in the major have been offered the opportunity to finish the program, which will officially end in May of 2018. United Way of Madison County gears up for winter in the Anderson community
AU groups join “Operation Weatherization” in the program’s 11th year. United Way of Madison County is hosting its 11th-annual Operation Weatherization event on Saturday, Nov. 4. AU senior embarks on 34th trip out of country, studies in Cuba

Record number of scholarships go to AU students
The highest number of Indiana Space Grant Consortium (INSGC) scholarships ever to be received at AU happened this year. The INSGC awarded scholarships to 11 AU students, the highest number of recipients at any college or university in the state of Indiana. Two $15,000 grants were also awarded to faculty members. Summer Tri-S gives students “eye-opening” experiences abroad
World-travel was on the hearts and minds of many AU students who embarked on Tri-S trips over the summer. Students traveled to different countries to serve communities and immerse themselves in other cultures. The Tri-S (Study, Serve, Share) program offers AU students the unique opportunity to travel to other countries for a reasonable price. Nursing program boasts 3rd-best NCLEX scores in state
Over the summer, the AU School of Nursing and Kinesiology received news that 98 percent of the graduating nursing majors of spring 2016 passed NCLEX, the national licensing exam for nurses. Of the 57 accredited nursing programs with testing graduates last spring, AU’s NCLEX passing rate was the third highest in the state of Indiana, behind only IUPUI-Calumet and the University of Southern Indiana.
