The Flagship Enterprise Center has announced that Dr. Terry Truitt, dean of the Falls School of Business, will begin serving as the chief executive officer as of June 1. School administrators have not yet concluded who will fill Truitt’s position, but are examining the next steps of the process. Dance sets sights on new studios
Though AU is one of the few Christian colleges to offer a dance program, there was once a time when dancing was forbidden on campus. “The Church of God has a strong animus towards dancing,” explained Erich Yetter, assistant professor of dance. “They thought it was lascivious and led to boys and girls getting together.” When students began leaving campus to dance, the university introduced a dance class as a way to keep students safe. AU nursing program ranked first in Indiana
The nursing program at AU was ranked number one in the state of Indiana in 2019 by registerednursing.org. “They looked at all the schools in the state of Indiana and ranked us number one,” said Lynn Schmidt, dean of the School of Nursing and Kinesiology. “They compiled five years of information, including NCLEX pass rates, which is the licensure exam that a student needs to become a nurse. When it comes to food, AU students are offered a variety of different options; the Marketplace, Raven’s Haven, and Create all exist solely to keep students full and content. Pistole holds student forum
Female musical theatre majors Isabelle Yost and Jamie Valentine sparked a campus-wide conversation about LGBTQ+ issues when they shared a kiss on Reardon stage at Encore. John Ashcroft comes to AU
Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft will be delivering a public address on Wednesday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in York Performance Hall and speaking in chapel the following day, Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m. Ashcroft served as governor and senator for the state of Missouri before being nominated for the cabinet position by George W. Candidate banned from SGA election
Candidates who were running in the primary election include Cassie Billings, Elijah Neal and Becca Peach. Troyer Goldman intended to run with Hope Brandenberger but was barred from the race by administration. Admissions returns to SOAR
The AU admitted students event is returning to Student Orientation and Registration, SOAR for short, after a number of years billed as Raven 101. The change follows Student Life handing it back to the admissions office. SOAR will be offered on March 9, April 27 and May 18 with afternoon celebration events, and a last registration-only day will be on August 2.
