AU students are making an effort to lend a voice to victims of sexual assault through the Start by Believing campaign. Senior exhibit “Still Here” on display until May
Last Saturday, the Communication and Design Arts Department hosted “Still Here,” which was the department’s senior art exhibition. The opening ceremony of the exhibit was held from 1-3 p.m. in AU’s Jessie C. Wilson Gallery. The exhibit featured the work of eight seniors, six of whom are design majors, and two who are fine arts majors, meaning that they focus primarily on painting. Debate team places third at national competition
Chandler Clark and Eleanor McArdle were first-time debate team members, and the only students on AU’s debate team this year, but that didn’t stop them from placing third in nationals last month. Nationals took place in Fullerton, California over spring break. There, McArdle, a sophomore psychology and marketing major, and Clark, a freshman political science and economics major, debated on the increase of federal minimum wage. AU Residence Life to host first Raven Run in April
On Saturday, April 2, the Residence Life department at AU will host its first Raven Run on AU’s campus at 9:00 a.m. In the past, Residence Life has used Winter Formal in the fall semester as their way to raise money. “Since our schedule is really heavy in the fall, we decided to reevaluate things and try something new. Pistole comments on Apple vs. FBI controversy
In the last few weeks, Apple has taken their dispute with the federal government to the American public. The dispute is over an iPhone recovered in the San Bernardino shooting last December. Apple is refusing to follow a court order that calls for them to assist the FBI in accessing content on the phone. Peer mentorship program helps students at AU
The Peer Mentoring Program at AU uses upperclassmen as mentors to help incoming freshmen and transfer students get acclimated with the campus. All incoming students participate in a service project during orientation weekend, which helps students get to know their peer mentors and other newcomers to the campus. “I think it helps calm the nerves of incoming freshmen,” said Lisa Horst, director of first year experience at AU. CAB organizes Life-Sized game night in KWC
At the beginning of each semester, the AU Campus Activity Board staff splits into groups of two, and each group comes up with new possible event ideas for the semester.
