AU athletics takes steps following program changes

Women’s team claims first Backyard Brawl Championship
For the first time in extramural history, the women’s team representative from Anderson University, No Punts Intended, won the Backyard Brawl. The Backyard Brawl is an extramural event in which the regular season champions from AU, Huntington University, Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) and Taylor University compete in a tournament to determine the best IM flag football team from all four schools. Inaugural Raven Riot excites for upcoming season
Junior guard Trevor Lucas was given an assignment in his Management of Sports Facilities class to organize and execute an event. He began discussing ideas with his roommate, Will Williams, about how to generate publicity for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams heading into the upcoming season. Intramural program headed for “next level”
While attending AU, all students are afforded the opportunity to be an athlete. Though not all Ravens have the chance to suit up for a school affiliated team, Anderson’s renowned Intramural (IM) program allows students to continue their athletic pursuits during their college career. Broadcasting veteran Dave Shore returns to AU
A member of Anderson University’s 1988 graduating class, Dave Shore, has seen and done it all in the communications world. Shore has served as lead reporter for the Dallas Cowboys, television play-by-play analyst for Texas Tech basketball, a position Bob Knight requested Shore to fill, Operations Manager for ESPN LA 1070, Program Director for Detroit Sports 105.1, as well as many other positions along the way. If you haven’t heard of the AU men’s and women’s swim teams, that’s probably because, prior to this year, it didn’t exist. “I am so excited for the potential of this team and what the future holds for the program,” Head Coach Conner Snare stated. Women’s soccer team continues winning streak
After a 7-0 victory over St. Mary of the Woods, the women’s soccer team improved their winning streak to five. The Ravens dominated from the start, opening the scoring in the fifth minute and staying aggressive for the duration of the match. Beverly Tanner recorded a hat trick, while Halley Embree, Maddie Martin, Courtney Maher and Haleigh Ciampa all added one goal each. Cross country teams post strong performance
The men’s and women’s cross country teams posted strong showings at the Run With the Lions event in Shelbyville, Indiana. Both teams won the event, a serious improvement over their respective ninth and 10th place finishes in their previous event, the IWU Twilight Classic.
