Campus was brimming with feelings of love this Valentine’s Day—love for AU, that is. Students and faculty were given the opportunity to express their appreciation for AU during I <3 AU Day, the Friday before Valentine’s Day. The event was put on by the Student Alumni Association and was held in the Bottom of Decker Friday morning and early afternoon. Students and faculty were invited to write down what they love most about AU on a pink heart that was then hung up for display. Those who … [Read more...]
Senate hosts event to call for student interaction
Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. during the school year, Student Senate, a subsidiary of the SGA office, meets to discuss issues facing the student body. More often than not, this comes down to budget concerns for the committee, but also for the approval of the formation of clubs of all shapes and sizes. The senate also meets to discuss budgetary concerns of the individual clubs. While having a small budget to work with, they have the final say on allocating funds to each group. They also receive … [Read more...]

AUFS seeks improved communication with student body
Last semester, students received emails from their peers asking for the completion of surveys regarding AU Food Services and their effectiveness in reaching the student body. While these emails could have easily been mistaken as student groups trying to make a grade in their marketing class, the AU Food Services surveys served a slightly different purpose. “Over the fall semester I partnered with faculty member Anna Stumpf to assign a marketing plan group assignment to two sections of the fall … [Read more...]
Tri-S travelers finish building, experience culture
“As long as there are Comanche children, Indian children, they need to hear the gospel of Jesus.” Ever since Tri-S team leader Ed Breeden heard Reverend Robert ‘Hovarithaka’ Coffey speak these words to the congregation of Brown Indian Church, near Walters, Oklahoma, in 1986, he has had a passion for the Native American people of Oklahoma. Since then, Breeden has traveled to Brown Indian Church at least once every year, leading groups to aid the small church in its efforts to reach their … [Read more...]

Track and field shines at opening season indoor meet
The HCAC released its much-anticipated preseason track standing predictions earlier last week. The AU men’s team was picked second while the women’s team was chosen to finish fifth in the conference. Voted on by the 10 conference coaches, the polls are designed to predict how successful a season will be for each team. Yet no poll could predict how exciting Anderson’s season debut would be for both teams. In his second year as head coach for the Ravens, Brian Williams is ready to build on last … [Read more...]
Men’s basketball claims triple-OT victory
One could have bet the house that the Ravens’ 97-94 double overtime victory over Franklin on Jan. 16 would be the most exciting contest of the season for the team. In a normal season, the bettor would have been correct. The Ravens had other plans as they traveled to conference foe Hanover University on Saturday and emerged victorious in triple overtime by a score of 106-100. The game was tied on 13 different occasions, and there were 10 lead changes. The Ravens employed a seven-man rotation … [Read more...]
