Juried student exhibition opens in Wilson Galleries
Student artwork was cast in the spotlight during this year’s Juried Student Exhibition. Although the opening reception and award ceremony took place on Saturday, Feb. 27, the Exhibition will remain open for viewing until March 24. Since the Supreme Court Decision this past June, LGBT+ issues have become a big talking point on campus, especially in regard to LGBT+ students. Last Saturday evening, Feb. 13, the AU chapter of To Write Love on Her Arms hosted its first event of the semester—a concert in Mocha Joe’s. The free concert, which was titled “LOVEGROOVE,” featured several acts. Krista Baker, president of the AU chapter of TWLOHA, said that the night’s purpose was to bring awareness of the club to campus. At the beginning of each semester, the AU Campus Activity Board staff splits into groups of two, and each group comes up with new possible event ideas for the semester. Campus activist group strives to end trafficking
In the fall of 2011, Bound was started to raise awareness about human trafficking. “I think it started [because] we see people who are hurting and don’t have the right to be free,” said junior psychology major, Merissa Milnickel, president of Bound.
