The Anderson Women’s Basketball team defeated the Earlham Quakers 86-74 on Saturday, January 17th. The Ravens improved to 8-7, and 5-4 in conference play, while Earlham dropped to 1-15, and are 0-9 in the conference.

In the first two quarters, Earlham maintained the lead most of the time. They led 33-32 at the half with help from a couple three-pointers from Freshman Sarah Riley. “Play with a lot of energy and tempo” was the mindset for the second half from Raven’s head coach Jon Gin. The Ravens pressed the Quakers to take the lead at the end of the third 55-47. Then with help from Senior Bella Larrison, they extended the score to put it out of reach for the Quakers. After the game, coach Gin credited the bench with a great performance, “Our bench has been a big turning point, especially after Christmas break, so I’m glad they showed out.” said Gin.

Larrison led the Ravens in scoring with 18 points. Larrison also had a double-double with 12 rebs as well, she also had an impressive 7 assists. Izzy Davis had 16 points off the bench, and Paige Williamson had 15 points, with all of her points coming from three-pointers. Preslei Copper had 9 points and Victoria Detraz had 7. Detraz also had 11 rebounds. The Ravens shot 38.3% from the field and 41.9% from three. They also had 8 steals and 4 blocks.

For the Quakers, leading the scoring was Sarah Riley (18). Junior Amari Wright also had a good game with 17 points and 8 assists. Berkley Shelton had 15 rebounds, leading her team. The Quakers shot 40.6% from the field and 50% from three.

The Ravens play Franklin at home this Wednesday at 7:00. Franklin leads the conference with an 8-1 record. With the Ravens being tied for fourth in the standings, this is a huge game and could be a big turning point for the regular season conference championship.
