Anderson University is gearing up for Homecoming and Family Weekend through this Saturday night with beloved campus traditions, athletic competitions, and events to bring students, alumni, and families together once again.

Luminaries Light Up the Valley

The annual luminary display will illuminate the Valley on Friday evening during the Helios Reception from 7-9 p.m. The tradition allows students to showcase their creativity while welcoming alumni back on campus.

“Luminaries are an important tradition for AU and its Homecoming because it is a nice reminder about what brings our campus light — students,” said Will Walker, AU’s Student Engagement Coordinator.

Walker emphasized that residence halls, athletic teams, clubs, and university staff work together to make the luminary display a reflection of the campus community.

“Luminaries bring the University community together and foster a strong sense of Raven Pride by giving everyone the opportunity to take ownership of this beloved campus tradition,” Walker said.

Raven Pride at the Street Fair

The annual homecoming street fair will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on University Boulevard. The street fair will feature tables from all over AU’s campus as well as Reunion Village tents for alumni celebrating class reunions.

The street fair will take place ahead of the afternoon’s football game, making it a focal point of homecoming weekend for alumni, students, and families.

“It’s really cool to see the community and all of the ways that students are involved on campus,” said AU junior David Lane.

Athletics

Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Hanover kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium. Before kickoff, the university will hold a football field naming and stadium renovation dedication at 10 a.m. The Athletic Hall of Fame program is scheduled for 11 a.m., and halftime will feature recognition of the Homecoming Court, Alumni Award winners, and Athletic Hall of Fame members.

Other athletic events include Friday’s cross-country competition at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic at 4:30 p.m. and the Orange, Black and Back Swim Meet at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, women’s volleyball faces Mount St. Joseph at noon, followed by women’s soccer against Berea at 5 p.m. and men’s soccer against Berea at 7 p.m.

Other Homecoming Events

Other events happening during homecoming weekend include Friday’s Wind Ensemble Concert at 7 p.m. at York Performance Hall, Saturday performances of A Doll’s House at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Byrum Theater, and Encore performances at 7 and 10 p.m. at Reardon Auditorium.

There are plenty of things to be excited about for AU’s annual Homecoming and Family Weekend.  AU Homecoming gives Ravens from past and present the opportunity to reconnect and celebrate community.
