With a history that includes two regular season HCAC Championships, two HCAC Tournament Championships, nine appearances in the HCAC Tournament final, 76 All-Conference players and three HCAC Most Valuable Players, imagining AU without a soccer program is difficult. However, it wasn’t long ago that the third-youngest program in the conference had not yet begun. Under the tutelage of Head Coach Scott Fridley, AU soccer has grown to heights that were previously unimaginable. “When I came to AU, … [Read more...]
AU students meet Vice President Pence
Last Friday, Sept. 22, Vice President Mike Pence visited Anderson to promote tax reform. While in town, several AU students had the opportunity to not only see him speak, but also shake his hand and pose for a photo. “I feel way more important than I really am after this,” said Glen Shinn, a senior music education major from Akron, Ohio. “My fear is that my life has peaked and I’ll never do anything cooler than this. Hopefully that is not the case.” Pence’s visit marked the first time that … [Read more...]

AU stumbles out of gate; looks to bounce back against Earlham
Entering his third season leading the Raven football program, Coach Sala had high hopes for the team’s on-field product. After stumbling out of the gates to an 0-2 record, those hopes haven’t been lived up to as previously envisioned. “We’ve made progress in a lot of other areas that people don’t see,” Sala said. “On the field, we have to keep hitting the reset button each year.” Hitting the reset button has resulted in another extremely young team taking the field for the Ravens. Dayan … [Read more...]

AU students flock to hidden local sporting goods store
With AU students returning to campus for the 2017-18 school year, many are flocking to one of Anderson’s hidden gems. Hugh Cherry runs the day-to-day operations, but the store is technically his son’s. Cherry’s son, Hugh Jr., works with BSN sports where he is the director of Lids Team Sports. Lids Team … [Read more...]

Since then, Pistole has remained quiet about his experience interviewing for the position. For the first time, Pistole is speaking with the media in this Andersonian-exclusive Q&A about what may have been had he left AU and returned to the FBI. Having achieved their first winning season in 15 years, hopes are high on the AU women’s soccer team that the program will take another step forward this fall. “Last year was a key turning point for us,” said Coach Myhre. “It gave us confidence that we can compete and play with anyone. It wouldn’t have been possible except for the work and dedication of the classes before them who not only laid the foundation, but instilled the mentality and work-ethic to create a championship culture. From the … [Read more...]
