As the 2025-2026 school year closes, here’s a quick recap of all the spring sports teams’ seasons.
MENS SPORTS
BASEBALL (21-18-1) 5TH IN HCAC

In Tyler Rubasky’s first year as head coach, AU baseball stayed consistent. They clinched a spot in the HCAC Baseball Tournament once again, finishing 5th in conference play.
Throughout the season, freshman pitchers Braden Richey and Rhet Hackman have thrown great games. Both of them earned five wins on the year. Richey ended with a 3.90 ERA and Hackman had a 4.35 ERA, both being top ten in the HCAC. Rex Richter also had a good sophomore season leading the Ravens in the least amount of hits allowed (53).
Griffin Wolf ended a historic AU career with another stellar year. Wolf batted with a .360 average and recorded the 3rd most hits in the conference (59). Wolf also led the team in home runs with six. Wolf closes his career with a lasting impact, being 5th most in AU all-time hits and 2nd in all-time doubles in a career.
Also having a great end to their careers were Trey Dorton and Dylan Hogan; Dorton was 16th in the conference for batting average (.344) and Hogan was 4th in the conference for doubles (15). Daniel Barreca had a solid sophomore year, being 2nd in stolen bases in the conference with 27. Barreca also was very reliable at shortstop all season with only one error.
AU looks to send multiple seniors off on a high note, looking to upset the HCAC and win the tournament. They face Hanover on Thursday, May 7 at the Kokomo Municipal Stadium, and the winner will play one-seed Earlham.
TENNIS (9-10) 3RD IN HCAC

AU Men’s tennis had another great year as they once again made the HCAC Championship, losing to Rose-Hulman. Coach Scott Greve now has three-straight third place finishes in the conference standings in his three seasons at AU.
As a team, AU declined in wins compared to last year when they had 14. However, they had the same amount of conference wins with 5.
Earning all-conference for the Ravens were Arturo Mendoza, Martin Suarez, and Ezekiel Bergen who also earned HCAC Newcomer of the Year. Santiago Terbonati also earned HCAC Honorable Mention.
Mendoza caps off his career with his third straight All-Conference award, and Suarez continues his brilliant career with an All-Conference award in all three of his seasons.
GOLF 3RD IN HCAC

AU men’s golf led by coach Dijon Knight, finished 3rd in the HCAC Tournament, led by Luke LeBourdias shooting an impressive seven over-par. AU concluded a challenging spring season with a season-high best finish in the Tournament, and their best finish in the HCAC Tournament since 2008. Other notable finishes for AU was 3rd in the Polar Bear Invitational in Bluffton, OH on day one and two.
Individually, LeBourdias finished 5th in the tournament, earning him All-Conference in the HCAC for the first time since 2011 for AU. Carter Woodell also had a great weekend finishing 11th. Owen Mockabee and Trent Nelson also played well finishing 20th and 22nd.
LeBourdias and Mockabee leave a great impact on the AU golf team, being the foundation of growing the golf team throughout their careers.
TRACK & FIELD 3RD IN HCAC

AU track & field completely turned around the program this year. After finishing second to last a season ago, the Ravens finished 3rd this year in the HCAC Outdoor Championships. The Ravens also jumped up three spots in the HCAC from indoor to outdoor championships.
A large part of the success for the Ravens is Michael Sweigart. He won the hammer throw and the HCAC Throws Athlete of the Year. Sweigart finished second in shot put and discus throws as well. The Ravens throwers had great days, Qi’Yam (Q) Simmons, Isaiah Buchannan, DaeQuan Viverette, and Connor Etchison all scored points in throwing events. Throwing coach Chuck Foga also earned HCAC Assistant Coach of the Year for the Ravens.
In more field events, the Ravens scored big points from Hunter and Garrett Isaacs in Pole Vault, and Josiah Marshall in Long Jump. Then the Ravens finished second in the 4x400m relay with Elijah Stires, Josiah Marshall, Caleb Savage, and Dillon Pratt earning HCAC All-Conference Second Team honors.
The season is not over for the Ravens as they now shift the focus to attempt to qualify for the DIII National Championship as individuals.
WOMENS SPORTS
SOFTBALL (13-26) 8TH IN HCAC

Unfortunately, AU softball had a down year finishing 8th in the HCAC. However, they improved off last season with 13 wins instead of 11.
Newcomer Hannah Merkel had a great year on the mound for the Ravens. She had a team-leading .385 ERA and was 7th in the HCAC for hits allowed (59).
For hitting, the Ravens were led by freshman Avery Owens with 39 hits this year. Maddie Schoenradt also ended her great career with the most home runs (2) and RBIs (19).
The Ravens softball team looks to build off their freshman talent onto next season.
TENNIS (6-11) 5TH IN HCAC

AU women’s tennis struggled throughout the season, finishing with four less wins than last year and a 5th place finish in the HCAC. However, it wasn’t a bad year for the Ravens, they made the HCAC Tournament once again, losing to Earlham in the first round.
Individually, the Ravens shined, with senior Ella Frantz earning another All-Conference and earning it all four years of her collegiate career. Sophomore Paula Torrent earned her first career All-Conference award and junior Gabby Hosier earned All-Conference Honorable Mention. Hosier also earned HCAC Athlete of the Week in February. Abby Cunningham and Ella Maiden also had good years as well.
Coach Scott Greve will look to improve next season and try to put up a fight to the dominating Transylvania women’s tennis team and the HCAC Champions Rose-Hulman.
GOLF

It has been an exceptional year for the AU women’s golf team. The Ravens won their home match at the Anderson Country Club in the Raven-Rose Rumble, and have other good finishes as a team this season.
Junior Hannah Emenhiser and sophomore Addy Gick have been big scorers for the Ravens all year. Emenhiser earned HCAC Athlete of the Week a couple of weeks ago and joined Gick on the all-tournament team for the Earlham Spring Invitational.
This weekend, the Ravens will attempt to win the HCAC Tournament. In the fall, the Ravens won the HCAC Preview against all of the teams in the conference, so they have high hopes for their first ever conference championship.
TRACK & FIELD

The AU women’s track & field team placed 8th in the HCAC Championship.
The Ravens were strong throwing throughout the meet, Lai’Lonie Waller-Thomas continued her impressive freshman season with personal records in discus, hammer, and shot put. She fell short of All-Conference honors but had a great year.
Other great performers this year were Katie Ripberger and Peyton Bundy. The 4×100 team of Ripberger, Deja McGriff, Taylor Custer, and Makayla Corn set a personal best in the HCAC Championship.
