January 26, 2017 by Ethan Utterback

An obvious concern for many students after graduation is making the transition from college to the “real world” and a life of much more independence and freedom. Though many look forward to this new stage of life, it brings on a new set of evident responsibilities and new circumstances. As of this past Thursday, the alumni department at AU is putting on an event each Thursday for upperclassmen, called Life After AU, focusing on that ensuing time period after students graduate from … [Read more...]

Yo! Bowl debut dismal, AUFS scrambles to improve

January 26, 2017 by Alle Roley

Healthy and diverse meal options are commonly cited as one of the things students value most on their college campus. Most students do not expect the cafeteria to create an exact replication of mom’s home cooking, but they do expect to be provided with nutritious, good-tasting food. This year, AU Food Services introduced the Student Choice program, letting students decide the menu of the second dining option in the Haven. Chick-fil-A has remained constant throughout the years, but the second … [Read more...]

On Dec. 28, President Barack Obama issued a formal proclamation declaring the month of January in … [Read more...]

Throughout the last 15 years, that number has increased to 1.9 million graduates. This means many more people are now attending college, demonstrating positive development in our society. However, this also means that every college graduate now must compete with almost 2 million other … [Read more...]

Election forum brings context to the issues

December 7, 2016 by Ethan Utterback

Last Wednesday, President Pistole hosted a forum for students and faculty members to discuss the election results. The goal of the forum was to give people at AU an opportunity and a safe place to discuss any thoughts or concerns that they have about what the election results could mean both directly on AU’s campus, and for us as a country. Pistole started the forum off by writing two different words on the whiteboard: context and issues. He then took statements from students and faculty who … [Read more...]

Discrepancies in cost of meal plans

November 16, 2016 by Nikki Edrington

Last year, AU Food Services announced two new meal plans while simultaneously reducing emphasis on their previous meal plan options in order to market their new, larger plans. Those new plans, Platinum 19 and Platinum 15, offer more meals per semester to students, as well as a lower cost per meal swipe. However, the prices that students pay per meal, specifically when using the meal swipe exchange program, are markedly higher than what students actually receive in food services. Meal plan … [Read more...]

Trump win calls electoral college into question

November 16, 2016 by Alle Roley

The 2016 presidential election was arguably unlike any election this country has ever seen. Many can recall their doubt as Donald Trump presented the idea of running for president a mere two years ago. This January, however, he will move into the White House. Trump’s campaign against seasoned politician Hillary Clinton included bitter debates, uncovered scandals and even a few Twitter fights between the candidates. In the end, Trump won the presidential race with 290 electoral votes, even … [Read more...]
