For the first time since the 2003 season, the Anderson women’s soccer team will be competing in post season play. A 5-2-2 conference record was good enough to take home fourth place in the HCAC, earning the team the final spot in the conference tournament. “When you look back and see all this team has accomplished this season, it’s been unbelievable,” said AU coach Jennifer Myhre. “Their goal set in January was to be in the top four and they worked tirelessly and for each other since then … [Read more...]
Luke Stafford to take on Broadway stage in “Home for the Holidays”
When Emmy-nominated producer and director Jonathan Tessero was in need of a vocalist who could also dance and play saxophone for the upcoming Broadway show “Home for the Holidays,” it was AU alumnus Luke Stafford who got the call. “This role was undoubtedly a move of God’s hand,” said Stafford, who graduated in 2017 with a degree in music business and entertainment. Tessero was the creative director for the weeklong coverage of Superbowl XLVII in 2013, including the halftime show that was … [Read more...]

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” opens in Byrum
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” opened on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Byrum Hall. The musical stars the original characters from Charles Schulz’s “Peanuts” comic strip, from the familiar realism and wavering confidence of Charlie Brown to the bossy but well-meaning Lucy. The show delights children ages one to 100 with bright colors and a sense of child-like wonder. Translating a comic strip and its characters to the stage may seem like a challenge, but the cast and crew created a colorful and … [Read more...]
Season one of intramurals draws to a close after massive changes
After four weeks of competitive regular season play, the intramural playoffs have come and gone, bringing an end to season one of AUIMs. “It was a huge success,” said Trent Palmer, director of student engagement. A successful first season was hardly a sure thing. There was a great deal of anxiety surrounding this season coming in. After much of last year’s staff were unable to return for a variety of reasons, five new staff members were hired, a much greater deal of turnover than was … [Read more...]
Ravens enjoy strong showings in centennial homecoming contests
Homecoming weekend was a tremendous success for the Anderson athletic program, with three of the four home teams emerging victorious in their contests. The victory was the first of the conference season for the Ravens. After a slow start, a common occurrence for the team, the Ravens did a great job of closing out each set to secure the … [Read more...]

Dr. Janet Brewer, director of Nicholson Library, received her undergraduate degree at AU in music education. She studied the same subject for her master’s degree and taught music for the first … [Read more...]
AU senior embarks on 34th trip out of country, studies in Cuba
For AU senior Phoebe Mangas, what began as a study abroad experience for her Spanish major last summer quickly became an immersion into another belief system and language that challenged her perspective on faith and culture. Mangas was originally interested in studying in Spain before feeling a powerful calling to travel somewhere she had never been. “I was planning on Spain because I had previously traveled there,” said Mangas, “but something in me over the summer said, ‘maybe look at … [Read more...]
Engineering physics stands out with small classes, big resources
Each year, undergraduate students studying the sciences apply for Research Experiences for Undergrads (REUs). Hayley Bower, a senior engineering physics major, was accepted to Purdue University’s REU program and over the summer began work with their Resilient Extraterrestrial Habitats (RETH) Project. She is currently one of five undergrads working on Purdue’s RETH team. For her role on the team, Bower is using her engineering physics background to evaluate the risks of radiation exposure in … [Read more...]
